Nadine Saylor was born in Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 29, 1971. She graduated from ‘The University of the Arts’ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a BFA in photography in 1996. She was introduced to glass in 1995 and has been working with the medium ever since. "When I saw glass being formed for the first time, I was captivated by the color of the hot liquid. I knew that this was something that I had to try."
Since then, she has traveled to several facilities to study with many renowned glass artists including Pino Signoretto, Ruth King, and Dick Marquis. In 1997, she was awarded a scholarship to attend ‘The Corning Museum of Glass’. In 1999, she received the Harvey and Bess Littleton scholarship to attend ‘Penland School of Crafts’. In 2002, she attended ‘Pilchuck Glass School’ as a student in Hiroshi Yamano’s class.
She has worked in Santa Cruz with Paul DeSomma and Marsha Blaker-Desomma as their hot shop assistant 1999-2005. She was a visiting artist at San Jose State University where she aided students in developing their skills. Nadine recently received her Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture Dimentional Studies from Alfred University. She is currently an adjunct professor in their glass department.
